Lots of New Faces - SWD is happy to welcome lots of new faces this spring. Students range from age 6 to 60+, from brand new riders, to seasoned riders, to adults getting back into riding. We welcome everyone, there is a place for you at our barn.

Haflingers Everywhere! - Ziggy was joined by Antonio Rose of Lilac Farms and Martina this month. Tony is here for the summer, and we are excited to get him going undersaddle. Martina is in for a refresher course, and to further her undersaddle work.

A New Face in the Barn - Welcome to Mo Ziggady of OLF. "Ziggy" is a 7 yo Haflinger gelding now proudly owned by Marielle T. They are quickly becoming a great team, we look forward to the summer ahead.
ILPH-MI Helps More Horses - Three arabian mares found their way into the care of ILPH-MI. They are currently being rehabilitated, and will be evaluated for the ILPH-MI loan program once they are in healthy and fit condition. More information on ILPH-MI horses.

Working With a Wonderful Charity - Shelby has been working with a great group of people to build up the Michigan chapter of the International League for the Protection of Horses. This month, the group took in their first horse, Madison Avenue. ILPH-MI is also finishing up the plans for a barn to allow them to help more horses.

A Big Year Ahead! - Winter schooling shows start at Double Bar H Equestrian Center on Sunday Jan 14th. SWD students will be trying out new things and confirmed skills. Lilac Farm Welcomes Back Tony - It is with happiness and anticipation that Lilac Farm welcomes back Antonio Rose. He is by Alois and out of R Noble Rose. He will be coming to SWD in the spring to start his undersaddle training and begin his dressage show career.

Welcome Velour - Sunny is now leasing Velour, a wonderful Westfalen mare owned by UmaJulz Sporthorses. Velour is by Vienna Waltz and out of Gruenwolke. She will also be available as a lesson horse for the winter.

Welcome to Shebang Wylde - Jess found the perfect Haflinger mare at the American Haflinger Registry sale in Ashland, Ohio. Shebang Wylde is by Aristo van de Rijsdijk and out of Surely Impressive SNA. She has been christened as 'Snow' and is going to be an outstanding dressage mount.
Farewell and Godspeed to Malakai - It is with a very heavy heart that the decision was made to humanely euthanize Kai this month. He was a wonderful old gentleman, and he will forever canter on in our hearts and minds. Horses touch us in an incredible way, we are truly blessed to know them.

American Haflinger Registry National Show - R Noble Rose does it again! Rosie and Shelby took 3rd place in the dressage suitability class, 1st place in Intro A with a 64%, 1st place in Intro B with a 68.1%, and 4th place in Beginner HUS.
BCEC - R Noble Rose, a 6 yo haflinger mare owned by Mary Propocio of Lilac Farm, made her dressage debut with Shelby at the BCEC Glass-Ed show. She took 2nd place in her Intro B class, with a 69.048%. She also took 1st place in her dressage suitability class with lovely comments from the judge. Her Intro score was high enough to earn her the Walk/Trot Reserve High Percentage award for the day! She also did quite well in her training level tests, a feat we are very proud of as she has only been cantering for about two weeks! Rosie and Shelby will be attending the Haflinger National Show later this month in Mason, MI. We'll keep you posted on the results!

Glass-Ed DressageFest - WOW! What a great experience. SW Dressage was well represented, and took home some great placings. Emma C, Jessica H, Kiersten S, and Marielle T all attended. Emma and Marielle were in the ITD 12 and under division. Marielle took 1st in the written, 2nd in the equitation, and 1st in the dressage test, earning her the title of Division Champion! Emma took 3rd in the written, 3rd in equitation, and 2nd in the dressage test. And this was only Mindy's 2nd show!! Kiersten rode in the 12 and under Training Level Division. She took 1st in the written test, 3rd in the equitation, and 3rd in the dressage test, earning her the title of Division Champion. Jessica rode in the Training Level 19 and over division. She took 1st in the written test, 6th in the equitation, and 6th in the dressage test, earning her the title of Division Reserver Champion! Apparently, SWD students know their theory! A job well done, and we are all looking forward to attending this fantastic event again next year.
Waterloo - Shelby and Spirit take Training Level Open Championship! Spirit's work is improving at each ride. He took three first places and a 3rd. He won Training Level test 3 open with a 67.5%!
Congrats Kiersten S! She took 1st
place out of 25 riders in her Training level class at
the Ingham County Fair! Shelby and Spirit had their best show yet at Copper Creek's UDSF show (one fourth place and one win at Training Level), and improved even more at Waterloo (one fourth place and one win with 60.0% at Training Level).
